Project Overview
High capacity, delivered at speed
VLT Logistics has come a long way since Vernon Land founded the business in 1996 with a single 7.5 tonne vehicle. Today, the family run logistics company operates nationally, with 500,000 sq ft of warehousing and a growing range of distribution, warehousing and 3PL services.
As VLT’s operation continued to grow, it needed a storage solution that could deliver serious additional capacity while integrating seamlessly with the way its warehouse already worked.
With a new contract and a short lead time, the project also needed to move quickly. VLT needed its new storage capacity in place without disrupting its existing logistical movements.
The Solution
300 bays. 2,400 pallet spaces.
Used Racking UK supplied and installed 300 bays of Used Link 51 pallet racking, creating storage capacity for 2,400 pallets.
The installation comprised 324 used frames, standing 6m high and 900mm deep, alongside 1,800 used 2.66m beams. The system provides a combination of 2,000kg and 2,500kg UDL per beam pair, giving VLT the capacity required to support its growing operation.
Every level was fitted with new mesh decking, providing a robust and practical storage surface throughout the installation.
To ensure the new system worked naturally alongside VLT’s existing warehouse operation, we also supplied a bespoke labelling system matched to its existing identification system.
The Result
A complete storage solution in just five weeks
Speed was just as important as the storage solution itself. With a new contract to support and VLT’s logistical movements to work around, there was little room for delay.
From order to completion, the project took just five weeks, including a one week break to accommodate the client's movements on site.
The completed installation provides VLT with capacity for 2,400 pallets across 300 bays, while integrating seamlessly with its existing warehouse systems and workflows.
The result is a high capacity, fully integrated storage system that gives VLT the additional space it needs to keep growing, without compromising the efficiency of its existing operation.
