Project Overview
Making better use of what was already there
Ruggles Equestrian specialises in horse rugs and accessories, with products designed for everything from Shetlands and miniature horses to heavy horses and donkeys. Established in 2006, the business has built its reputation around quality, fit and practical products for horses of all shapes and sizes.
With a varied product range comes a varied storage requirement.
For this project, Used Racking UK was brought in to reconfigure, relocate and expand Ruggles Equestrian's existing warehouse racking, creating additional capacity while making better use of the space and equipment already available.
Rather than starting from scratch, the project looked at what could be retained, repositioned and adapted before introducing new equipment where required.
The Solution
Reconfigure. Relocate. Expand.
The project began with two existing bays being carefully dismantled and relocated to make better use of the available warehouse space.
The beam levels throughout the existing racking were then adjusted, creating a more practical configuration across 16 levels.
To provide additional capacity, a new storage area was created using 22 bays of Used Link 51 pallet racking, comprising 26 frames at 3.8m high and 44 pairs of 2.7m beams.
All new levels were completed with mesh decking, providing robust and accessible storage throughout the new installation.
The existing site infrastructure was also put to good use. Frames already on site were reused to create a further 6 mesh decked levels, adding additional capacity without requiring a completely new system.
The works also extended beyond the racking itself, with the relocation of the client's portable office forming part of the overall project.
The Result

The completed project gives Ruggles Equestrian a more flexible warehouse layout while making better use of both its existing equipment and available space.
By relocating and reconfiguring the original racking, reusing existing frames and introducing new Link 51 equipment where required, the installation provides additional storage without taking an entirely new approach to the warehouse.
The 22 new bays, alongside the additional levels created from existing equipment, provide greater storage capacity and practical access across the operation.
The result is a warehouse layout designed around the realities of the business, making existing resources work harder while giving Ruggles Equestrian the additional storage it needs.
