Project Overview
Two pallet types. One adaptable system. More capacity in the cold.
When Peter Green Chilled needed to replace its existing pallet racking, the project required careful planning to accommodate the demands of a chilled environment and a fully operational warehouse.
Used Racking UK dismantled the existing system and installed new Mecalux adjustable pallet racking, designed to accommodate different pallet types and load requirements. The existing wire guidance system was also altered to suit the revised layout.
Completed over four planned visits, the installation created a flexible storage solution capable of holding 1,040 UK pallets and 900 Euro pallets, while allowing the business to maintain its day to day operations.
The Solution
Used Racking UK planned the replacement around Peter Green Chilled's operational requirements, dividing the work across four visits to minimise disruption and keep the project moving.
During the first visit, all racking frames were assembled during normal working hours. The remaining work was then carried out over three weekend visits, with two rows of racking replaced during the first weekend and the associated wire guidance alterations completed alongside the installation.
The following two visits involved replacing further racking runs and adapting the wire guidance system to accommodate the new layout. During the final visit, the remaining racking was installed and the anti-collapse mesh fitted.
The new Mecalux adjustable pallet racking system accommodates both UK and Euro pallets, with maximum pallet loads of 1,200kg and frame heights reaching approximately 8m. A combination of 2.225m and 2.7m beam lengths allows the layout to make effective use of the available warehouse space.
The installation also included a dedicated anti-collapse mesh run measuring over 41.7m long and 7.8m high, providing additional protection within the storage environment.

2,225mm and 2,700mm beam lengths
